Nintendo: Wii U will be preferred over PS3,360 for core games like Call of Duty

/ by Menashe

Nintendo’s Scott Moffit had high hopes for the Wii U’s penetration into the hardcore gaming market. He claims that according to Nintendo’s thinking, the Wii U may become the preferred way for core gamers to play their games:

So if the Wii U is in the house, are you hoping core gamers will get into it? Do you think that will work?

Do we want to reach out to the core audience? Absolutely. They’re very much part of our audience and the group of consumers we hope will find the way you can reimagine games on the Wii U. The Wii U could become the preferred way to play those games for some of the core gamers. You can imagine how a game like Call of Duty would work on the Wii U–the GamePad will allow you to declutter the TV and pull gaming items like maps down and not interrupt your interaction and enjoy the cinematic quality of the game on the TV. That’s one application that could be exciting and could enhance gameplay for a core gamer.

PS3 will always be last place among developers. WiiU will be second because of its quirks but better architecture and the 360 will be the best because of the architecture and fantastic developer tools. Developer wise it will be MS>Nintendo>Sony as it has been for a VERY LONG time.

Yeah, cause the Nintendo lineup is so much better than PS3 right now. In case you missed it, PS3 is lead platform for most 3rd party games now. It's easier to port from PS3 to 360 than the other way around. Nintendo games don't sell unless Nintendo makes them. That is why they should get out of hardware and focus on their bread and butter Mario franchise. Their hardware is always behind the curve and this next gen will be no different.

This is wishful thinking. Core gamers aren't going to care much for game they already played on PS3 and 360.

You know crave you could hold up the controller or even choose what is on the small screen. Games like this work a lot better when you know where your team is with out yelling. Plus plenty of pc games have you do that very thing all of the time. You could even choose to use all three controllers at different times. Here is the biggest addition touch aiming like a mouse and keyboard. You know how real fps are played.

Actually using the PS Move with rifle attachment is the closest to "real" you can get. With that you actually aim and shoot. Playstation has done similar things with PSP and Vita. The fact is, it isn't very appealing. Something the Nintendo fans will find out soon enough.

I love playing MW3 MP, that's all I play, I don't touch the single player campaign at all, my loss, so what. Now with that said, while playing, its bad enough taking your eyes away from the main focus of the entire screen to look to the corner of the same screen to see the little map. Split seconds count, god forbid I would want to take my complete field of vision off the main screen and down into my lap to see another tiny screen in my hands, like I said before, its bad enough doing it WITHIN the same field of view let alone to separate the 2.

no, no it will not. the wii-u won't even be preffered to ps3, let alone 360. and on top of that we still have next gen to look forward to. nintenfanboys don't really have that, they are looking forward to HD wii with an almost bareable controller. even with slightly better graphics if that for wii-u they still have a garbage online compare to 360 and even PSN

PSN is much better than Live. Even the free service considering Live doesn't have one. If you do decide to get PSN+ it utterly kills Live. The sheer number of free games and extras offered more than pays for the subscription and they keep adding to it. The only thing that 360 has over PS3 is cross game chat and that is a feature I don't want or care about.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH that was a pretty funny article, Nintendo beating the PS3 and 360 LMFAO that's a good one, maybe the Wii U can hold a candle to the PS3 and 360 now, but when the PS4 and the 720 comes, everyone will be trading in their Wii U's and other current-gen consoles to get one, i hope that Sony and Microsoft offer a deal where you trade in your PS3/360 and get the next-gen console for half off or something
